Application Assignment 2010

Recently brands and markets have seen a change in consuming behavior among their customers.

We at the interactive communication program at Berghs are now looking for people that “have what it takes” to meet these new communication challenges and pursuit change in a rapid world.

We are interested in people who have analytic as well as creative skills, which are both important for understanding the market your client operates in. You will gather consumer insights and use that insight to come up with a concept that is business-driven. Whichever background you come from you must have a true passion for how new technology can be used to maximize communication and solve real consumer problems, or innovate new solutions that meet expectations that don’t yet exists.

Task no #1 - the ball pen
Develop a new area of use for one of our oldest tools available - the ball pen. Something that makes people talk about the new product and the experience of using it (this is a non-techie task).

Show us how you could re-invent the product, package and market it.

Task no #2 – in a world of sagas
The book company Fairytale Inc are up to a challenge. Books have always played an important role for learning as well as for creativity, but the company’s young audiences are heavily inspired and entertained by the gaming industry and parents have less and less time for their children. This may slowly lead to the death of the traditional book as a concept.

Come up with a digital concept that takes the world of sagas to a completely new level that meets the audiences in the year 2020 and their demand on entertainment and mobile lifestyle. We want you to include a presentation of the target group and your insights in your concept.

Technology that could be of interest is:

•    Augmented reality
•    RFID
•    E-readers

Task no #3? – your own project
You might have a project of your own that you would like us to know about. Maybe it’s a cool application you have been working on, a dress you sewed yourself or an ant farm you documented creatively. Just let us know.

Everybody has talent, personal passion and specific skills that make up who you are as an individual. Everybody has different backgrounds and experiences. So do you. We would like you to make an effort to bring that personal touch that makes your solutions personal. We’re open minded people and would like you to be as well. We are in need of people who can think differently. Surprise us!

•    Creative genius - focus on getting your concept and ideas right, together with a neat packaging of your solution.
•    Strategic one - show us that you understand the problem by putting effort in consumer insights and how this is met in your solution. Don’t miss out to still package your solution well, which is really important in order to be able to communicate your concept.
•    The techie - you’re really up for a challenge. Show us your passion for technology and how it could be used to solve a real problem. We won’t be stunned by the tech itself, but if it’s a relevant use of it we will probably be amazed.
•    You’re free to use whatever tool or product you like to present your solution. Just consider that we don’t have every plug-in, program, font or operating system ever made.
•    Your solution could be anything - a movie, a PowerPoint or Keynote, a stand up comedy or just plain visuals in a PDF.
•    If you’re the daring person who is thinking of presenting your material online, just be sure to have the technology on your side.
