Berghs students receives Yellow pen in D&AD New Blood

Berghs students Johanna Davis, Elin Hjelte, Ellen Marklund & Nicholas Sjöberg were rewarded a Yellow pen in D&AD New Blood for their case "Pure Sweat" - a gym bag doubling as a wash bag.

Congratulations to the win! How did you come up with the idea?

– Thank you! We wanted to work with plastic in the oceans and started talking about how we could create a way for people to do good in their everyday lives. Since we felt that many ideas that came up were based on a “cool technique” that no one ever heard about, that never could be made into reality, we wanted to do something that would be possible to create in real life. Therefor we started looking for research outside of the tech industry and that’s how we came up with ”Pure Sweat”.

Why do you think you won?

– It’s a rather small solution to a huge problem, and most of all; people don’t have to change their everyday habits to do good. When it’s easy, it is a greater chance that people will actually do it.

When working with innovations, what’s is the most important thing to keep in mind?

– Innovation is so closely connected to tech and you often forget that it is really about finding new solutions. To innovate is all about solutions, not cool words or high-tech quick fixes.
