Financial Conditions and other important information – Online Courses and other short formats.

Course fee:

The course fee is determined by Berghs School of Communication and covers the entire course. An invoice for the course fee will be sent to the email you registered when you applied. The course fee must be fully paid by the due date stated on the invoice.

Berghs practices “admission confirmation with the requirement to respond if you do/do not wish to participate in the course.” This means that you need to accept or decline your offer by the date stated in your notification of admission.

If a notice of resignation is sent to Berghs after the 14-day notice period following your acceptance of a seat in a course, you will be charged an administrative fee of 25% of the course fee.

Should you need to resign from the course after it has started, there will be no reimbursement of the course fee.

The completion of your studies is to be done during the semester you are enrolled in. An approved leave from studies is only permitted in case of illness and shall be confirmed by a medical certificate.

The rights of regret:

Following The Act on Distance Contracts and Off-Premises Contracts, a consumer has a 14-day right of regret. For our courses, the 14-day period begins on the day you accept your spot in the course and accept the terms and conditions. For our on-demand courses, a participant has accepted that the rights of regret have passed when you log in to our online platform Canvas for the very first time.

If you, within these 14 days, want to practice your right to regret, you need to email info@berghs.se with a clear message of your decision to retire from the agreement. Please also add the course name and time frame. Your resignation from the agreement must be confirmed in writing from Berghs.

Swedish VAT-rules:

When studying on-site at Berghs in Stockholm, all participants, both Swedish and international, must pay Swedish VAT according to Swedish tax legislation.

New VAT rules apply to online courses/online programs in Sweden:

Outside the EU: If the buyer is living in a country outside of the EU, no Swedish VAT will be charged. It is the buyer’s responsibility to find out what VAT laws apply in their own country.

Inside the EU: If the buyer is living in a country within the EU, 25% Swedish VAT applies only if you receive the invoice as a non-taxable person (e.g private individual).

If a taxable entity, e.g. company, purchases the course/program, no Swedish VAT will be charged provided that Berghs receives the company’s VAT number for administrative purposes (if the number is not provided, Swedish VAT will be added to the invoice). It is the company’s responsibility to pay VAT in their own country concerning their laws (”Reverse-Charge”).

Payment:

The student always has financial responsibility towards the school. For example, if you state that your employer will cover course costs, but your employer does not fulfill its financial liability to Berghs, payment obligation will be transferred to you personally (the student).

The invoice needs to be settled by the due date stated on the invoice. If a reminder of payment needs to be sent (i.e., no payment is received by the date stated on the invoice), a fee of 150SEK plus interest (base rate +8%) will be incurred. An unpaid invoice after the date specified on the invoice results in the loss of the student’s right to participate in the course.

Course discount:

After a student has completed a course, a 10% discount may be used towards the cost of another Berghs course. The discount can be used by the original student or transferred to a friend, colleague, etc. Please note that the discount cannot be applied towards any tailored courses, our full-time programs, or in a course where you have already been enrolled. The validity of the discount is 365 days after finishing the first course and can only be used once. The discount cannot be exchanged for cash or be combined with any other offers.

Reimbursement of the course fee:

Paid tuition fees are non-refundable after the course has started. Exceptions can be made in case of long-term illness, supported by a medical certificate, and the request for reimbursement must be made in writing to Berghs School of Communication.

Approved leave from studies:

The completion of the course is to be done in the semester you are enrolled in. An approved leave from studies is only allowed in case of illness, and shall be confirmed by a medical certificate. If an approved leave from studies is granted, the student needs to start again at the next upcoming course start. An approved leave from studies will not be granted for any other reason.

Canceled course:

Berghs reserve the right to cancel a course if we have too few participants. The enrolled students will be offered to transfer to the next course start or get a full refund (if they have already paid).

Force Majeure:

Berghs SoC reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course, to change the course content, and change course directors if an unforeseen circumstance occurs which is out of our control; a so-called force majeure. A force majeure, includes, but is not limited to, one or more of the following circumstances: a natural disaster, illness, riot, strike, pandemic, fire, governmental recommendations, or decisions.

The right to make changes:

Berghs SoC reserves the right to update the contents of these terms and conditions at any time.
