From Solo Creator to AI Innovator: Carl's takeaways from Berghs' AI for Design & Video Course

Carl Norrman-Humble, Creative Director and founder of hum.visuals, recently completed Berghs’ 4-week AI for Design & Video course. With a career spanning everything from album covers and music videos to global brand films, Carl joined the program to sharpen his creative edge and explore how AI can supercharge visual production. From transforming still images into motion to streamlining entire workflows, he discovered how smart use of AI can turn solo creativity into studio-level results.
Hi Carl! who are you and what do you do?
Hey! Living in Gothenburg, I’m a father to a young baby and have a constant need for coffee and creative challenges. I run hum.visuals, where I work as a Creative Director doing everything from album covers and music videos to press photos and corporate films.
I also work as a Media & Creative Producer at ViaCon Group, where I’m responsible for our visual identity across 18 countries. I film, design, and edit — and sometimes act as the internal branding police when something strays outside the brand book. 🙂
You recently took "AI for Design & Video ". What made you choose this course?
I started experimenting with AI back in 2022 when DALL-E became publicly available — and I was hooked right away. When things started moving fast, I realized I needed to keep up, both for my own creative growth and to avoid being left behind. As the sole creative person in both my company and at ViaCon, I saw AI as a huge opportunity to create high-quality content straight from my desk.
What did you take away from the course?
Mainly the fundamentals — like how to write good prompts. I hadn’t realized before how much word order and hierarchy affect the outcome, or how the right synonyms can completely change the result.
What was it like having Michel Megherbi as your instructor?
Michel was awesome — incredibly knowledgeable, inspiring, and just genuinely nice to work with.
What did you find the most fun or valuable during the course?
Realizing how important it is to start with good image material before generating video. That makes all the difference in the final result.
Have you been able to apply what you learned?
I use it every day. Mostly to create motion from projects that only exist as still images. It’s opened up so many new creative possibilities.
What would you say to someone considering taking this course?
I think this course — and gaining solid knowledge about AI in general — is essential if you want to stay ahead in this industry.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?
No two days are ever the same. Some days I’m in meetings all day, other days I’m out shooting photos and videos, or buried in editing at my desk. That variety is what I love most about my job.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best thing is that it doesn’t feel like a job. I get to work with visuals and sound all day — and then see the results out in the world. It still feels a bit unreal sometimes.
And the challenges?
The challenge is that everyone has an opinion about how something should look. A photo can be “too bright” or “too dark,” “too much text” or “not enough text.” It’s that classic feedback — “Can you make the logo bigger?” — haha.
Where do you find inspiration?
Everything inspires me. Often, inspiration strikes when something goes “wrong” — an unexpected effect or a mistake that leads to something new. That’s when the magic happens.
Do you have a career tip you’d like to share?
Do what you enjoy. If you think something is fun, you’ll get good at it. And once you’re good at it — well, that’s when you can start making a living from it. That’s worked for me, at least!
