AI technology offers unprecedented opportunities for professionals working with design and video. This course guides designers, videomakers, and visual storytellers to harness the power of generative AI from initial ideation to moodboarding, production, and final video editing.
Through hands-on exercises, you’ll learn to use a wide range of AI applications and create a project with compelling images, structured visual narratives, sound, voice-overs, color correction, and AI-enhanced edits. Upon completion of the course, you'll be able to confidently use AI tools for image generation, video creation, and editing across a range of professional creative projects.
The course consists of 5 evening classes (2h/each) conducted over 4 weeks. The weekly evening classes (2h/week) are comprised of demos, practical assignments, discussions, and feedback. We estimate a maximum study time of 10 hours/week for four weeks. This means you can easily combine the course with a full-time job. Our classes are small and interactive, and we encourage students to keep their cameras on at all times and participate in discussions.
Session 1: Introduction to AI in the creative process
This week sets the foundation for using AI in creative workflows. You'll explore how Claude works as your thinking partner for research and ideation, and how that thinking turns into images in Magnific. You will submit a detailed concept or storyboard for a short video or visual project to be developed throughout the course.
Session 2: Refining the vision with mood boards
The second week focuses on refining your creative vision through AI-driven research and mood board creation. You'll learn advanced reference techniques in Magnific, style and character references, to curate references effectively and define the aesthetic, mood and tone of your project. Special attention will be given to visual storytelling, composition, and theme consistency.
Session 3: AI Video Production and Integration
Bring your static visuals to life with AI-powered video generation. You'll experiment with AI-generated video clips, explore techniques for combining them with traditional footage, and develop short-form content that aligns with your project's vision. All AI video generation is done through Magnific.
Session 4: Professional Editing and Refinement
Master professional post-production with AI-enhanced workflows. You'll learn to integrate AI sound design, perform AI color correction, and apply AI-assisted edits to enhance your final video quality. Primary tools are DaVinci Resolve for edit, colour and delivery, and ElevenLabs for voice and sound design.
Session 5: Final Techniques & Project Presentations
Students will showcase their projects, receive peer and instructor feedback, and reflect on their creative journey. This session also provides insights into future AI advancements and applications in creative industries.
