Berghs Keynote
Berghs Powerpoint
Virtual backgrounds for online meetings are available here.
Screen mirroring means that everything shown on the computer screen is duplicated on the external display. (This is not to be confused with screen sharing.)
If an extended display is used instead, whether via AirPlay or an HDMI cable, presentation slides can be shown on the external screen while notes remain visible on the computer. (The same principle applies when using a PC, although the setting may have a different name.)

Routines & Structure
Course Director
The Course Director develops the detailed course plan and structure, as well as the course description, and is responsible for ensuring that the course objectives are achieved and that assessment is carried out.
When needed, the Course Director recruits guest lecturers and gives them a clear understanding of what they are expected to contribute during their respective sessions.
Lecturer
A lecturer contributes to a course to a greater or lesser extent and plans and leads the teaching for their individual sessions.
Lecturers and teachers should always aim to familiarise themselves, through the Course Director, with the overall purpose, objectives and content of the course beyond their own contribution. This helps ensure that each individual session contributes to a coherent overall learning experience for participants.
Coach
In addition to teachers and lecturers, Berghs works with coaches who provide ongoing personal and professional feedback on students' project work and/or other communication solutions.
Education Coordinator
The Education Coordinator registers, quality-assures and distributes documentation relating to programs and courses, including applications, course descriptions, schedules, course evaluations, course certificates and program certificates.
Project Manager, Berghs Solutions
The Project Manager initiates, develops and quality-assures customised learning programs for organisations and companies.
Program Director
The Program Director is responsible for their full-time program.
This responsibility includes the overall structure and delivery of the program.
The Program Director is also Berghs' main point of contact with industry and working professionals. They are responsible for recruiting Course Directors, coaches and students, and also support industry relations and ongoing internal coaching.
Digital Education Producer
The Digital Education Producer works with maintaining and developing technology and methodology for education, digital events and webinars.
Head of Courses, Executive Dean and Learning Developer
These roles are responsible, in different ways, for quality-assuring and developing educational content within their respective areas.
This includes responsibility for teaching methods, evaluation and measurement, policies for teacher development and recruitment, and quality assurance of curricula, course descriptions, evaluation methods and student admissions.
Service Team
The Service Team is ready to help with everything from technical problems to lending you the pen you forgot.
You will see members of the Service Team around the building every day. If you need to contact them by email or phone, their contact details are available through Berghs or via Reception on 08-587 550 01.
Materials and notes are collected digitally in Canvas for all students and participants. This is part of Berghs' ambition to reduce our environmental impact. Participants are asked to bring a computer to class, or alternatively a notebook and pen if they prefer. Notepads and pens are also available from Reception if needed.
Presentations and other teaching materials
A large number of lessons take place at Berghs every day.
For environmental reasons, we therefore ask that presentations and other study materials are shared digitally with participants.
After your lesson, either you, the Course Director or the Education Coordinator should upload your presentation and any other relevant materials to Canvas.
Berghs Facilities & Local Area
Our facilities are designed to make classrooms, toilets, the auditorium and our café easily accessible. If a participant has questions or if anything is unclear, please refer them to an Education Coordinator or to info@berghs.se. Ideally, accessibility needs should be raised well before the start of the course so that we can provide the best possible support.
Before any on-site lessons, collect the attendance list and classroom access tag, sometimes also referred to as a key tag, from Reception on Floor 1. Teachers on full-time programs only need to collect the access tag. Each classroom has a drawer unit that can be opened with the access tag. Inside, you will find a small supply of Post-its, pens and notepads.
Routine for all on-site courses, excluding full-time programs
- On the attendance list, enter the total number of participants present.
- The list should then be passed around so that each participant can sign individually.
- After the lesson, return the attendance list and access tag to Reception or to the mailbox next to Reception.
If Reception is closed, leave the classroom key/access tag and attendance list in the white mailbox on the lower level, Floor 0.
Screens by Reception, at the main entrance and on the lower level show which classroom you have been assigned. All classrooms are located on the lower level, Floor 0. Collect the access tag for your classroom from Reception on Floor 1. The access tag should also be returned to Reception after your lesson.

- Evening: 18:30-19:30
As the lecturer, you decide when during the relevant time window participants should go to the café for their break. Note: It is important to keep to these times and not send participants to the café earlier or later, as refreshments may not be available outside the stated windows.
Allergies and dietary requirements
If you have allergies or follow a vegan diet, please inform the Education Coordinator well before the course begins.
Yes. There are refrigerators and a microwave available in the building. Feel free to as Reception for directions.
Every classroom at Berghs is always equipped with:
- TV/display screen with Airtame, AirPlay, Chromecast and/or HDMI
- Speakers
- Whiteboard and pens
Note: Please remember to bring an HDMI adapter that is compatible with your computer if you intend to use an HDMI connection.
The teacher's classroom access tag also works on the upper floor, where there are co-working areas and meeting rooms. You are welcome to use any of our open areas in connection with your lesson. Meeting rooms can be booked through Reception. Please always remember to return the access tag before leaving the building.
- Each course is allocated a separate classroom. It is no longer possible to pre-book two classrooms for a single course. However, a lecturer can check with Reception on the day to see whether an additional room happens to be available. The same principle applies to full-time students.
- If you would like to rearrange the furniture in the classroom, you are welcome to do so. You may, for example, ask a few participants to help at the beginning of the lesson. Some classrooms have desks for everyone, while others have chairs with fold-out writing tablets together with a few additional desks that can be used when needed. Floor markings in some rooms show suggested furniture layouts recommended by Berghs.
- Each classroom also has a drawer unit that can be opened using the access tag. Inside, you will find a small supply of Post-its, pens and notepads. If you need more, feel free to ask Reception.

- Please note that private bicycles cannot be stored indoors.
Berghs has the following hotel offers and discounts available for students and lecturers: https://www.berghs.se/artiklar/hotellerbjudande/
A defibrillator is located on Floor 1, next to Reception. A defibrillator, also known as an AED, analyses the activity of the heart and can deliver an electrical shock when necessary. It is used in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. Although we commonly say that the heart has “stopped”, the heart may in fact be in electrical chaos and no longer pumping properly. This is known as fibrillation. It can affect people of all ages. To restore a normal heart rhythm, an electrical shock may need to be delivered using a defibrillator. When cardiac arrest occurs, time is critical. Research shows that where a defibrillator can be used within 180 seconds, the chances of survival increase significantly.
How to use it
The device guides the user using spoken instructions and visual symbols. It analyses the person's heart rhythm and determines whether an electrical shock, known as defibrillation, is appropriate, or whether the person instead requires CPR. Once activated, the defibrillator gives spoken instructions to guide the user through the process. Electrode pads are attached to the person's chest according to the illustration on the device. An electrical shock can then be delivered through the pads in an attempt to restore a normal heart rhythm. The defibrillator includes safety systems that prevent a shock from being administered unless the device determines that it is appropriate.
Several members of staff at Berghs are trained in CPR and in the use of the defibrillator. Contact Reception if assistance is needed, but always call 112 in an emergency. If you have questions about the defibrillator at Berghs, please contact us through the relevant form.
Name Tags
Lecturers who would like to use name tags during a lesson can collect them from Reception. Blank sheets are available there.
Water bottles
The first time you teach or study at Berghs, you receive a water bottle that can be used during your lessons.
If the fire alarm sounds during your lesson, you are responsible for gathering your participants, taking them out of the building and leading them to the assembly point at Gasverkstorget, outside Systembolaget. Check that everyone listed on the attendance sheet is present at the assembly point. If anyone is missing, immediately inform a member of Berghs staff.
Berghs cannot accept responsibility for personal valuables. Do not leave computers or bags unattended when leaving the classroom. If you have a suitcase, you can ask Reception whether it can be stored there. There are also a number of lockers in the school where clothes and belongings can be stored during the day. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your own padlock. Padlocks can also be purchased from Reception.
There is an access code on each floor except Floor 1. You can get the current code from Reception. Please make sure that doors close and lock behind you. Unfortunately, Berghs has experienced several thefts of valuables and computers. It is never completely safe to leave a computer or bag unattended in a classroom, and it is important to remind participants of this. Participants also receive this information from their Education Coordinator, but an additional reminder is always helpful.

Agreements & Guidelines
Here you can read the guidelines that apply when involving external clients in courses at Berghs. The purpose of the guidelines is to support Course Directors and teachers when setting up client collaborations.
They are available both as a PDF and as web text.
Guidelines for Client Collaborations
Background
Berghs School of Communication, hereafter referred to as Berghs, educates future communication professionals across a range of disciplines. A central part of Berghs' educational approach is Action-Based Learning, where students are given opportunities to test theories through real-world cases. This means that we frequently create collaborations between companies and students at the school.
These collaborations often involve a company, organisation or individual acting as a client, hereafter referred to as the Client, within a course on one of Berghs' programs. In return, the Client receives solutions and perspectives generated by emerging creative talent.
Purpose and limitations
The purpose of these guidelines is to establish the terms of collaboration and create the right expectations for everyone involved. Our primary focus at Berghs is to ensure that students are given an opportunity to learn something new through the project. In return, the Client should be looking for new creative solutions from a younger generation. These collaborations may involve developing innovative strategic and creative solutions to the Client's communication challenge.
We do not accept projects that primarily involve developing existing ideas or assignments whose main purpose is to reduce production costs for the Client. Because these collaborations are primarily intended for educational purposes and students are still in the middle of their learning process, it is important to allow room for mistakes and failure along the way.
Berghs supports both the Client and the students with specialist knowledge, teaching and coaching. However, Berghs cannot guarantee that the final delivery will have the same appearance or level of execution as work produced by an established agency or production company.
Berghs' responsibilities
To make the collaboration between Berghs and the Client work effectively, Berghs undertakes the following responsibilities:
Project management
On behalf of Berghs, responsibility lies with the Course Director of the course in which the collaboration takes place. The Course Director may be an externally contracted professional who plans and leads the collaboration with the Client. This includes arranging meetings, developing briefs and assignment descriptions together with the Client, preparing presentations, booking lessons and presentation sessions, and taking overall responsibility for the collaboration. The Course Director is in turn appointed by a Program Director at Berghs.
Administration
Communication between the students, the school's administration and the Client is also managed by the Course Director. This includes any agreements, whether written or verbal, as well as documentation, planning and follow-up.
Quality
To help ensure that students carry out their work in a professional and high-quality manner, the Course Director is also responsible for observing, coaching and providing feedback to students throughout the project.
The Client's responsibilities
As the Client in a collaborative project with Berghs, the Client undertakes the following responsibilities:
Contact person
The Client appoints one contact person who follows the project from beginning to end. Together with the Course Director from Berghs, the contact person plans the project and develops the brief and timeline.
This includes helping Berghs gain access to the right information, providing contact details for other people within the organisation who may be able to contribute, giving students ongoing feedback and taking part in the conclusion and evaluation of the project.
Participation
One of the most important principles for a successful collaboration is that students have the opportunity to meet the Client during presentations and receive feedback on the work they have carried out.
Berghs therefore expects the Client to be available to participate at a number of points during the course. The number of occasions varies from project to project.
Use of student work
If the Client chooses to develop or use an idea or proposal created by students during the project, this must be handled transparently and in accordance with the terms described below.
Terms and rights
Berghs School of Communication owns the rights to ideas and material presented or produced by students within a project or course.
If a company that has given students an assignment within a course wishes to implement an idea or use material produced by Berghs students, the company must first discuss this with Berghs School of Communication before the material is used or published.
The company must either credit the students and Berghs School of Communication, or purchase the relevant rights to the ideas. This should be discussed with a contact person at Berghs School of Communication.
Copyright
Copyright consists of both moral rights and economic rights.
Moral rights give the creator the right to object to certain prejudicial alterations of a work or final product. This may apply to proposals involving images, text, layout, form, design or other material that forms the final result of a project assignment. Moral rights generally cannot be transferred and remain with the creator.
Economic rights concern the right to exploit a work commercially, for example the right to reproduce, distribute or display it. Berghs holds the economic rights to the proposals produced through the collaboration. Unlike moral rights, economic rights can be licensed or transferred.
Publication rights
The commissioning organisation, in this case the Client, has the right, subject to payment, to use student work for the purpose and to the extent specified when the assignment was commissioned.
If the Client wishes to exercise the right to publish all or part of the proposed work, Berghs School of Communication must be informed within one year of the student work being presented.
Payment for publication rights is invoiced by and paid to Berghs School of Communication. Berghs will manage these funds in a way that benefits students and education.
NDA – Non-Disclosure Agreement
In some cases, the Client may want Berghs students to work with sensitive material or confidential information. In these cases, it is the Client's responsibility to prepare an appropriate Non-Disclosure Agreement and ensure that all relevant parties sign it.
Disputes
If a dispute arises in connection with a collaboration, the Client, students or Berghs should in the first instance contact the Program Director responsible for the relevant program, the relevant Head at Berghs or Berghs management.
Students are not permitted to record lectures, either in the classroom or through the online learning platform. This applies to both video and audio recordings during lessons or coaching sessions. The current Berghs guidelines state that this restriction relates to GDPR and copyright requirements. Students are also not permitted to use AI agents in video meetings.
