  • Meet Gülsüm Elmas (@kulth00m), one of our students from Turkey, now based in Stockholm. Below she shares her thoughts on the Advanced Advertising Program:

▪️Can you share a little bit about your background and why you applied for the Advanced Program?
I have a bachelor’s degree in PR and Advertising, and I ran my own fashion business for several years. Entrepreneurship taught me a lot, but it also made it clear that advertising is my true passion. I didn’t get the chance to fully work in the industry before, and I felt that gap.
I applied to Berghs because I wanted to return to advertising properly, build a strong portfolio, and position myself for the creative industry in Stockholm. The Advanced Program felt like the most direct and honest way to do that.

▪️How has your creative process changed since joining the program?
For years I worked mostly on my own, so one of the biggest shifts has been learning how much stronger ideas become when you work alongside other talented people. Collaboration doesn’t dilute creativity, it multiplies it.
I’ve also learned new creative tools and frameworks that help when I get stuck. Instead of waiting for inspiration, I now have ways to push ideas forward and actually move the process along.

▪️How does studying communication in Sweden different from studying in your country of origin?
The biggest difference is that in Sweden, learning is very much based on doing. In my country of origin, education was more about listening, memorizing, and repeating information.
At Berghs, you learn by making, testing, and failing which makes the knowledge stick. It also feels current and relevant, like what we’re learning actually reflects how the industry works today. You’re not playing catch-up, you’re already in the game.

▪️How has your confidence changed since you started?
My confidence changed a lot. In the beginning, I doubted myself and constantly compared myself to others. But through learning and succeeding I realized that the more I worked on things I genuinely enjoyed, the better I became at them. That progress helped me trust myself more and actually believe I belong here.
  • Meet Joel Bergman (@joelbeergman), Berghs Bachelor student. As part of the Graphic Design course, Joel developed a non-alcoholic mocktail concept for Absolut. The project explored how far a brand can stretch while staying recognisable—using colour, form and a clear visual system to signal both playfulness and consistency.

  • Meet Cyan (@cyanchy), one of our students from Hong Kong. Below she shares her thoughts on the Advanced Advertising Program:

Can you share a little bit about your background and why you applied for the Advanced Program?
I’ve been in the ad industry in Hong Kong for a while and felt it was time to refresh myself and get inspired again. I applied to Berghs to see how creativity works in a different culture and to understand the Swedish way of thinking a bit more deeply.

▪️What’s been the most valuable thing you’ve learned so far at Berghs?
Berghs gives us a safe, creative space, but also pushes us to think ahead about AI, sustainability, and the impact of our work. It’s taught me to think beyond “just an ad” and grow into a more conscious creative.

▪️How does studying communication in Sweden differ from studying in your country of origin?
In Hong Kong, everything is fast and execution-focused. In Sweden, people really value creativity as a way to shape a better world, and there’s more space to question, reflect, and discuss values and impact.

▪️What’s something you wish you’d known before starting at Berghs?
I wish I’d researched the Stockholm agency scene more, so I could have prepared better for internships, networking, and finding my place in the industry here.

▪️How has your confidence changed since you started?
Berghs has made me a more well-rounded creative with a clearer “big picture”. Now I feel like I can think a bit further ahead than before, and that’s a quiet kind of confidence I got from Berghs.
  • From all of us at Berghs, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season! 🎄
