Camilla Wallander at the helm as Berghs’ new CEO

Camilla Wallander has been appointed CEO at Berghs School of Communication and will continue the task of developing Berghs in both the Swedish and international arena. Camilla will assume her new role in October and will succeed Pär Lager who has served as CEO since 2007.

Camilla Wallander has served as Chief Marketing Officer at Nordiska Kompaniet since 2005, and has during the last few years also headed the real estate company Hufvudstaden, including its Biblioteksstan project. Before that she was Marketing Director for SAS Sweden where she developed Scandinavian communication. Camilla has a long relationship with Berghs both as a student and a lecturer, and also from having sent many co-workers to various Berghs programs and from having served on the Advisory Board for the school’s Stategic Communication & PR program.

During the past few years Berghs has emerged as a strong international brand as well as in Sweden. The school was named the world’s best communication school by Cannes Lions in 2009 and 2010, won the Titanium Egg at the Swedish Golden Egg communication industry awards in 2011, and is attracting a growing number of international students. Berghs will continue to develop its unique educational profile and devote even more resources to its international effort.

Berghs’ current CEO, Pär Lager, announced last May that he will step down during October to assume the position as a member of Berghs’ governing board. Berghs’ previous Head of School Sofia Strömberg will work with strategic development at the school until the end of the year when she will leave the company and move to her home town Örebro.

Berghs and R/GA offer international internship program

Soon, a selected group of Berghs students will be taking part of an exclusive international internship program at R/GA. As part of this collaboration R/GA will provide internships for selected students studying at Berghs Interactive Communications program, and locate them in either one of R/GA’s Stockholm, London or Singapore offices.
